Cheap Computer Cases
You can get some pretty inexpensive computer cases right now in all
types from full tower and server size to mid-tower and desk top style. Cheap
computer cases are available from lots of manufacturer and just about
every retailer all over. I’ve been checking the bigger web retailers and there are really some great
online deals going on right now.
Clear computer cases are even cheap these days. I’ve seen them for as
low as $25.00 going up to the $200+ Danger Den. If you go for a clear case, read the details closely. Some of
the cheapest ones are plastic and not acrylic. I find that the plastic ones seem to be less durable than
acrylic and although I’ve never used one to build a machine, I have to wonder how they hold
up.
A lot of cheap computer cases on the market are refurbished. This
includes the regular all metal cases as well as the clear acrylic cases. The listing should say so if they
are. I suppose that’s OK provided it doesn’t have any scratches or chips when you get it. Still, you have to
wonder what the problem was that required ac computer case to be refurbished in the first
place.
It’s not like we’re talking about
something that has a lot of electronics or moving parts. Now some cases come with fans and power supplies, so that
is a possibility for explaining the refurbishing. I’d compare prices carefully, understand all the parts you get or
don’t get with the case and try to figure out what the condition of each is.
Don’t sacrifice functionality for price. Consider how many bays, fans
and USB/media ports you need and make sure your case meets your needs. It is always a good idea to buy at
least a little room for expansion. Stuffing the bare minimum into a bare minimum case means you’ll be itching
for another new computer a lot sooner down the road. It just always seems to happen that
way.
You can also save money on clear cases
that are flat packed. They are simple to put together once delivered. I mean obviously, if you are buying a
computer case I am assuming that slapping it together won’t be an issue for you. Besides, flat packed self assemble
cases are potentially less likely to be damaged in the shipping process. I have found that shipping charges
are usually lower too.
Cheap acrylic computer
cases are running around the $40.00 range right now. Many in this range are very good
quality cases with ample bays and everything you need. This compares to about $18.00 for a basic ATX style
tower case in plain white.
Remember, some cheap computer cases are sold with power supplies and
fans already installed so read the specs carefully. You might find a case that you think is the cheapest, but
that you end up paying more for because you didn’t realize it was stripped down. The other side of that coin
is that when you get a case with those components already installed, you have to be sure that the models
provided are good quality and that they fit your needs.
